The news!

I found out some interesting news the other day. A guy I used to do Journalism with is now working for Channel 7 news as a producer on one of their morning shows. How awesome is that!! Yeah I saw him on TV: it was so surreal. I kept saying to myself "It wasn't too long ago that I was in that same class with that guy!"

I actually worked on a group assignment with him. I don't remember him being particularly bright but he was an ideas person so that's good for him. He was the first person I met from a place called Ballina (i think) and how it was on the border of NSW and QLD. haha that was a funny conversation. Wow! good on him I say!

Anyways so went to Cardio Funk on Thursday and it was a little more challenging to follow the instructor. I liked the instructor last week she was better. This guy kept miming what he was trying to say and was too fast. I finally got the routine but i didn't like that awkward couple of minutes when I felt retarded and uncoordinated. hehehee

Dropped my daddy off the airport earlier on Thursday and the baggage check-in went in OK so we were all pleased and then drove my sister to uni and then went home to get my stuff and go back to uni. I realise that i am not very good with good-byes; especially at the airport. I'm all emotional despite my best efforts not to be emotional. At least he can get more goodies to bring back to Aussie! yay!

Then Friday comes around and I went to the night lecture of Admin law. I've grown used to my lecturer now; he is alright. He explains everything and it now makes sense. I hope the next lecturer will be good. Then met up with friends in the city and it was so awesome to see them again. I think nearly all of us came except a few absences which was understandable. I think there were about 11 or so of us. great great fantabulous. Caught up on heaps of news and did I mention one of my buddies is getting married? so we chatted about that. One of my other buddies is in hospital recovering slowly - i hope she is better now. Another buddy got this totally unbelievable haircut but i guess it suits him? And another buddy is now permanently working for the Department of Immigration. great hey! I'm loving the news!

Now it's saturday and got a msg from my dad about how he's finding all these super awesome deals in the phils. I'm so excited for him to bring back all this stuff!! yay! and apparently it's really hot over there as well so I hope he's drinking alot of clean water and staying out of the heat.

Okay i'm off: gotta go places: gotta see people!

Wednesday, April 20, 2005

Okay so it is Wednesday today and I'm bored out of my brains. I have a day off from uni and can't decide whether to go to the city or stay at home and study.

My dad is leaving for a holiday to the Phils tomorrow so I've gotta drive him to the airport then. And for the time being i've made a list of things I want him to get me when he's over there. Sure, I got alot of stuff when i went earlier this year but those supplies usually run out and need to be replenished. Like my stash of "hersheys kisses". They need to be replenished...

And that Cream Silk conditioner that i got from the Phils. That's a nice conditioner actually... so that needs to be replenished...

And there are so many other things... i won't list them.

So let's get up to date on my news:

Monday: uni -- enough said.

Tuesday: study, applications, cross institutional study form

Wednesday: that's today.

Oh yeah I got the Jackon 5 album recently and it is awesome. I lurve it. It's a pity Michael Jackson is seriously deluded in the head. but that won't deter me from listening to his music though. haha.

In other news: we now have a new pope - - who strangely looks like the former pope John Paul II. Don't you think? It's almost uncanny!
So this new pope is from germany. And i was listening in the news this morning that he was part of the Hitler Youth when he was young. But this is because it was mandatory for the german youth to join at the time. Apparently he is super super conservative in his views. The reporter said the new pope has firm views against all the controversial topics. so this should be an interesting time for him.

which cuisine reigns supreme??! Posted by Hello

aaahahahahaha! I love Iron Chef!

The best cooking show ever!!!

You haven't experienced the ultimate in cuisine until you've seen Iron Chef!

If you don't already know what Iron Chef is: read below

Excerpt from SBS:

"The rules of battle are simple: the four Iron Chefs, each an expert in French, Chinese, Japanese or Italian cuisine – and their challengers meet in a well-stocked, well-equipped Kitchen Stadium, where they must create a three-course meal based on a themed ingredient. The winner of each cooking battle is hailed throughout the land; the loser is mocked. Added to this are all the elements of great theatre: flashy costumes, high-tension drama, and cabbages rising on elevator-like platforms. The chefs have one hour to cook."

Here's more:

"The show is a meld of sports commentary with a cooking show featuring a sidelines announcer, who gives a play-by-play commentary on the dishes, as they are prepared, “He’s going for the fermented bean curd!” There are also two announcers who provide most of the announcements and various titbits of culinary knowledge. The flamboyant and eccentric Kaga Takeshi is show’s host."

This week's food ingredient: Chinese Cabbage!

brilliant!

I liked today.

I first arrive at uni; walk to the top floor of the Law Library and get myself settled into study mode; and then 5 minutes later: a man with a funny accent announces on the speaker that the Law Library needed to be evacuated for a "test". This is my second evacuation from a building this semester. I'm on a roll! yay! hahaha

So all the students on the Forgan Smith building strip were evacuated for their emergency test and those were alot of students I'm telling you! Then i switched libraries and went to the SS&H. and studied studied studied. I saw a pretty funny sign in the library study cubicle. Actually it was just a sign that had a comment added under it.

Anyway the original sign said "Please do not keep valuables unattended"

And then under it, some smart ass wrote "cause UQ employees steal"

It kept me amused for a while. Of course, this is a location joke: only UQ people would understand. bah! hehe

And then I went to the last couple of minutes of the Employer Presentation series and listened to some speakers from the Blake Dawson Waldron law firm. They told us stuff about how you should conduct yourself in an interview. it was educational.

Then had my lecture; then finished my lecture and THEN went to Cardio Funk with my friend.

That class is awesome awesome! I loved that class: it's Cardio but incorporates Hiphop dance. the music mixes are okay too. So I think I have found my new calling: my new hobby! And i exercise dance too which is good for me! I'm going to stick with this till the end of sem

I am here typing on my laptop again and pondering over the happenings of the day.

on Monday, I was really bad and didn't go to uni but I did spend the usual 12 hours doing uni stuff...my assignment that is. I worked my ass off in that assignment and hopefully i'll pass it. If I don't - i'll be so cut!!

I didn't get any sleep. Proper sleep.

Hmm and then Tuesday - my assignment was due So I was up early, working on it again. And then I finished it and then made my way to the bus stop. While I was walking down the road I could see three people ahead of me. One girl looked particularly messed-up. As I walked closer, I could she was really pissed (in the alchoholic way). She was using the green meshy fence on the side of the street as her stabiliser but because the green meshy thing is just a piece of cloth - she fell through and landed flat on her ass. It was pretty funny actually. Her and her 2 friends looked a bit worried but told her to get up and she did walk drunkily along.
And then she saw a patch of grass on the property nearest the main road and plummeted to the ground and passed out for a couple of minutes. Then I walked to the bus stop finally and they slowly made their way to the bus stop (with the druken girl). Mind you, it was 1:30 pm in the day time. I couldn't believe it myself.
Drunk in the daytime. haha

The girl was muttering to her friends - she must have had a break up with her boyfriend or something. It sounded pretty trivial but then again - i don't know her so I can't make a full comment on it.
Then the bus came and we all got on the bus. I sat on a seat and they sat on the seat in front of me. And then the bus got moving. And then she puked. She puked on the bus!
And what was worse was that - it smelt like Bundy rum. ack! I really don't like Bundaberg rum! bad bad experiences from bundy rum i'm telling you!
And then they had the gall to leave the bag she puked in on the bus. The bus driver thanks gosh wouldn't have it so he yelled at them to take the bag out of the bus. And then when the friend took the pink "cotton on" bag dripping from liquid puke from the bus, you could see the puke trickle throughout the lower level of the bus. I moved seats to higher ground but just felt sick seeing the other people get on the bus and sit in the same seats (wondering why the floor of the bus was wet and slippery and what that funny smell was). yucky!! too graphic!

hehe

And so that began the Tuesday that was for me.

Got to uni, almost forgot what my lecturer's name was. Then remembered who my lecturer was; filled out the pink law form and then submitted my assignment. Went to the law library - saw law buddies - chatted for a while. then went home.

In the city again: saw Louie and Maria (ruth's sister) and then got bus back home. It was bad timing for me again because all the crazy school kids got on the bus. But then i heard this really cute kid talking on the bus trip back today and was trying to act like a grown-up. The kid (probably in year 4) was talking to his friend and said "I've had the single biggest week of my life this week. First of all I had an excursion on Monday, and I had a project due today". IT WAS ONLY: Tuesday.

heheh I thought that was cute. The kid is already stressing about having something on everyday. I'm assuming he learnt that type of talk from his parents. Probably learning through osmosis. Clever kid though: but needs to chill out and still continue to be a kid and not stress.

So back to Monday news: I just remembered something to complain about.
I saw a bit of that X-Factor show on TV (yeah I do seem to watch alot of TV right now) and I saw that Jacob the Rock kid: he is such a loser and then he said he didn't want to continue with the competition: he already conceded defeat. I thought that was pretty foolish. But i blame Kate Ceberano for being crappy and putting a terrible spin on her sending Jacob home. She gave him false hope and I don't like people that do that. It's low. When I see her I get really annoyed. She is really fake. Her smile is really fake.

In other news: i am really sick of my hair: it's become unmanageable and i want it to grow long again...like now! it's too short to tie it up, but long enough to irritate my neck. and is too thick to properly style! ack!!

prince william is hot Posted by Hello

Saturday, April 09, 2005

What happened to Prince William?

Prince William used to be super hot. Now he's just hot. I had the biggest crush on Prince William in highschool. He is very good looking but when I turned on the TV just then to watch Prince Charles and Camilla's wedding - I saw Prince William and saw he aged really quickly. He's only about 2 years older than me but looks like late 20's already. imagine when he turns 30 - he'll look 40! I was so shocked. what happened what happened???

It's so very sad that someone so good looking could age so quickly... he was the ultimate pin-up guy; handsome, tall, shy, nice smile, humanitarian, rich: he is a prince for gosh sakes!! but yeah: he aged really quickly. I think his hair is thinning. I hope he doesn't go bald. Nonetheless i found some pretty good pics of him still:

Here's Prince William deep in thought: hmm I don't' what could be so fascinating about a map but nonetheless: he looks good

And look! he likes playing pool!! My dream guy!

Gosh, my last blog entry was so god dang boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My life is just so boring!!!!!!!!!!! It's just normal boring!!!!!!!! uni, assignment, sleep, uni, assignment sleep! I need more excitement: i need heaps more good drama; intrigue! give me intrigue!!!! I need something to write about!

In recent news: Nikko (or who I have been referring to as "Nikko Pen") has been voted out of American Idol this week. waaaa!! I liked Nikko pen. He did look a bit like Bobby Brown but when he sang in his previous songs - he sang pretty well. I used to like Anthony's singing and look (at the beginning - let me emphasise "at the beginning") because he always wore a suit which was great. but now he is just lagging behind all the contenders. What a terrible version of 'climb every mountain', I prefer Guy Sebastian's version better - now THAT song had emotion.

Also I was listening to the 2000 Sydney olympics CD yesterday and after hearing those songs - it brought back memories of the Opening Ceremony and how patriotic I felt that day. I felt so proud to be Aussie I'm telling you. I remember tears swelled in my eyes when they introduced the 'Arrivals' section of the ceremony (with all the people from different parts of the world making up Australia's culture) and then when little Nikki Webster sang that awesome song about Southern Skies and then I really enjoyed Tina Arena's song too. It really makes you want to watch all 4 hours of the opening ceremony all over again. hahaha. And it was even better when I was in Sydney watching the olympic events. You were really in the sporting atmosphere! Everyone yelled 'Aussie Aussie Aussie' Oi Oi Oi and there would be a mexican wave flowing every 10 minutes. It was insane and slowly got annoying; but AT LEAST you were really in the atmosphere.

I liked Sydney actually, I wouldn't mind going there to work; but i want to see Melbourne or the ACT first. And then maybe go to Perth and look around there. And then I'll go to my first ever place I stayed in when I came to Aussie: the Northern Territory. That place was cool. Of course, I don't know what it looks like now... it could be a hole; but nonetheless, i want to visit the NT again. And then I'll stop by in Adelaide and make my way to visit Tasmania and then after that i'll decide which part of Aussie I like.

I was looking at the jobs available to graduates and what is most appealing to me now are jobs that require you to move to Canberra. So that's the plan for me next year - - try to land a job in Canberra. It will be very difficult but I need to get out of Brisbane or else I will crack. I know I'll settle down in Brisbane but I need to explore and work in other places.

Many things are worrying me this year: to land that awesome job, job worries, to have a healthy loving relationship with someone, to have an active social life, to have a balanced life, to be healthy and fit and tone and lean, money, to be able to balance all these things and never be bored, and to use my own initiative to find these things, and to have a hobby that i will stick too. even if this is just a wish list and not a to-do list, it's better that i've written it all down: i can read it again at the end of this year and see which things have happened. haha

I was updating my profile on Friendster last night and i was so stumped about how I was to describe myself. it was so hard; I've really changed alot since starting uni and i don't know if it's my degree that makes me analyse every little thing in too my detail (ie looking at things from an objective or subjective perspective) or if it's just one of my personalties.
I was reading an article a couple of years back that said that once a person reaches 18 years of age - they go back to what their real personality is. It was assumed that between the ages of 13-18 you went through a heightened state of emotion through your hormones and other factors such as peer pressure etc; and so you wouldn't be able to exhibit your real emotions till after 18yrs of age. I don't know if that is really true because it was just a study conducted by some random university but if it is: i can understand how it is a convincing concept.

Oh yeah I was sent this email about this really gross thing that happened with a drill and an idiot. here it is

I am typing on my laptop right now and am listening to Earth Wind and Fire. I've noticed that there are increasing numbers of law students bringing their laptop's to uni. I guess it's really handy to bring it along because typing lectures out seems easier than handwriting it.

right now, writing out what the lecturer's say in some of my courses is really difficult. It's because they talk so fast!! I know they talk that way to emphasise that they are thinking while speaking and really know their material and so forth and blah! but I keep getting hand cramps. ack! Why can't they just all be like my Admin lecturer who reads straight from a transcript and repeats every 2nd sentence and even spells out the words for us? Mind you though - my hand almost nearly falls off in that class as well. The best way is for them to just give us the lecture transcript. end of story. done deal.

but for the time being, just speak slower i always say: and concise: and not be monotonous.

Oh yeah and a downside for laptop batteries is that they run out pretty quickly so you are forced to sit at the front - near the wall so you can use your recharger to keep your laptop running.

i agree that using your own personal laptop is good but sometimes it's an incovenience.

There were so many students with laptops last monday night sitting at the front of the lecture theatre, one student had to sit on the floor with her back attached to the wall because her laptop battery fully ran out and she had to run it from the powersourcepoint.

I guess the main reason why I don't bring my laptop with me is that I have to lug it around for the rest of the day - especially coz I don't drive to uni. And those dang things are so heavy! I just resort to using my laptop at home.

To digress: I put this song collection on my media player which is full of old classics: it's so cool! It's like i'm transformed into the 60s and 70s! I was just listening to Heatwave by Martha Reeves! I blame American Idol for putting all these old songs into my head! argggh! How can I study! haha

Right now I'm totally into using my USB stick. It has been my lifesaver for the past couple of weeks. I don't have to print out anything and can just bring all my word documents home. It transfers anything and everything! What a great piece of technological ingenuity. It has made my file transfers really easy and I don't have to pay 12cents per sheet to photocopy in that dang law library!!! and i can get my assignment research downpacked really quickly... but finishing it is a different story. haha

In other news: i heard some really good news from my parents yesterday so I am very happy.

Also bumped into some people I hadn't seen in a while. I bumped into Jason and he filled me in with all this news about people from our highschool. It was really good hearing all that news. He's doing his Masters in Business now and it gets me thinking about whether or not I want to do a Masters degree later on.

Now I'm listening to "Hit the Road Jack" by Ray Charles. great great.

I was so exhausted yesterday. 12 hours of uni: i rest my case.

and my eyes started hurting really badly so I had to wear my glasses which I don't really want to wear but once I wore them, everything was better - i never thought I'd start really wearing glasses till i was like mid-20 or something; but alas I may need to wear glasses now especially for reading those ridiculously small sized fonts they put on journal articles. that really annoys me.

I was speaking to Susanna and Bennet on Monday and we were discussing about how one of our friend's is now engaged. How cool is that!

all this typing is making my hungry... i'm going to eat lunch now.

I put up a fence

I put up a fence today. What an achievement eh? hahaha

It looks pretty cool: but now my clothes are covered in little batches of saw particles, and I have a splinter in my ring finger.

Nevertheless - i toil away writing in this blog to continue my update of events.

I now officially dislike "Cathouse Empire" the band. My neighbours have been playing that CD of their's non-stop every Saturday at noon ever since we moved into our place and it just about drives me crazy. It's a pity too because I didn't mind Cathouse Empire till those neighbours started playing it every Saturday at noon.

Sure I could devote this whole site to talk about how much my neighbours are irritating people but i think i won't. There'd be too much energy wasted on that. I tried fighting fire with fire the other weekend - I played some WildFM CD's to drown out their music. It worked for about 7 minutes. And then... they played "Here's Johnny" (that really old 1995 'bam bam bam, bam bam bam bam" song) ack! They are too daggy! seriously!

And they've been having parties in their backyard every consequtive day this week. They just scream loudly and carry on and sing really REALLY bad karaoke. I think my ears started bleeding... nah that's an exagerration. But seriously - - so bad.

I think it's because my room is adjacent (kinda above) their backyard and since everything echo's at night - the sound is amplified...

oh well...such is life... I just want to break their CD player

April Fool's No.2!

I can't believe it! I've been fooled for the 2nd time today! This time it was Adam up to his antics! I must say though - he used some very creative skills here to super-impose a pic of a bike to the front of his house. I give him points for that. I seriously thought he got a new bike - that would have been awesome but alas - it was another April Fool's. Ahh well here is his graphic creation below... hahaha

Happy April Fools Day

Can you believe it? I was made an April fool of today... and out of all the people to play a prank on me - it was my dad! The doorbell rang at 6:30am. I could faintly hear the keys twist open the door and could hear faint chatter. My dad then knocked on my bedroom door and told me in his serious "i can't believe i got out of bed to answer the door" tone, that one of my friends was downstairs and wanted to talk to me. And the gullible person that i am - believed him. I was even particular enough to change my clothes - so that i'd look presentable. I glanced in the mirror to make sure my hair wasn't all over the place, and then i drowsily walked down the stairs (rubbing the sleep from my eyes). Then I walked to the partially opened door and looked outside.

To my surprise - there was nobody there... DUH! silly me - it's freaking 6.30 in morning! I should have known...

After realising my mistake; I hear my dad burst into hysterics behind me.
He yells "April Fools!!!!!!!!" and points at me and laughes while jumping up and down in amusement. You can see all the joy in his face - - he must have planned it for a while....

Ack! He got me... I was HAD... I was FOOOLED...

I just stood there staring dumb-founded at my dad; then i drowsily turned around and drowsily walked back upstairs to my bedroom, still in shock at how stupid i was. It took me a while and then i started laughing hysterically too.

aaaaaHAHAHAHAH!

Then i walked back downstairs; looked at my dad again and then we both burst out laughing again.
Then i turned on the TV and we watched the filipino news program: Teledyaryo.

hahah what a funny happy start to the day...

Happy April Fools DAY ya'll!
