The Mockinbird review

So after reading through To Kill a Mockingbird again, i've noticed that the movie version of it (which i thought was absolutely brilliant) - omitted quite a number of segments of the book like, Jem's reading sessions with Mrs Dubose, Dill's secret train trip to Maycomb, the character development of Ms Maudie, Aunt Alexandra coming to stay with the Finches, Calpurnia and the church scene, etc etc.

The movie also strays from the book's original suspect for the murder of Bob Ewell. In the book it is 'Jem' who is the suspect, not 'Boo Radley'. He was just merely the person who ventured out of his home to help Jem and Scout when the time called for it. That was a bit of shock reading that again because i totally forgot.

But despite these differences that i read, i find the book better but it was good to visualise the characters from the movie while i was reading the book, so it made for better reading.

Rating: 10/10 - - it's one of the classics!

NEXT BOOK: Wuthering Heights
