The Mockinbird review
So after reading through To Kill a Mockingbird again, i've noticed that the movie version of it (which i thought was absolutely brilliant) - omitted quite a number of segments of the book like, Jem's reading sessions with Mrs Dubose, Dill's secret train trip to Maycomb, the character development of Ms Maudie, Aunt Alexandra coming to stay with the Finches, Calpurnia and the church scene, etc etc.
The movie also strays from the book's original suspect for the murder of Bob Ewell. In the book it is 'Jem' who is the suspect, not 'Boo Radley'. He was just merely the person who ventured out of his home to help Jem and Scout when the time called for it. That was a bit of shock reading that again because i totally forgot.
But despite these differences that i read, i find the book better but it was good to visualise the characters from the movie while i was reading the book, so it made for better reading.
Rating: 10/10 - - it's one of the classics!

John Grisham is good
i actually enjoyed that John Grisham novel i read. i stayed up till the early hours of the morning to read it.
So yes i have finished reading it and recommend it.
I found the Angus and Roberston TOP 100 reading list in [of all coincidental places to find it - the Angus and Roberston Bookstore] and so i have made it a challenge for me to read books that are on that list.
Next challenge: To read "To Kill a Mockingbird" again
A new book to read
Okay so i've just finished reading the Da Vinci Code which has sparked my interesting in reading books again! hehehe
Normally - it's just so difficult for me to read books considering I read freaking huge textbooks and statutory Acts for my law degree for the whole year - so any thick book pretty much puts me off.
but since it's the new year and i get super 'bored' at lunch when i'm at work, i've decided to read books again. might as well i say.
Anyway: - - so my next book challenge is to read:
The Last Juror by John Grisham.so far the book has started out okay - it has reeled in my interest - - people have said that John Grisham is a pretty good writer so i'll see how the book goes...
I have finished reading the DaVinci Code!!
I must say it was a pretty good read. It took me on a wild chase around France and London and had so many twisted plots that i was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what was going on and where the story would end!
Rating: 5/5!
Dad's Party
i'm so happy that everything went smoothly for dad's party.
everybody looked stunning, the presentations worked properly, the sound system was amazing, the food was absolutely beautiful, the drinks were endless (open bar! yah!) and the dancing went off!
my only qualm was noticing the immense amount of weight i managed to stack on in 2005. i can't dance properly anymore! hehehe. the flab's in the way! not to fear though because i will lose 10kgs this year and keep it off. this is the plan. it can be done. the gym instructor said it could and i believe him!
but going back to dad's party - it was great and he was happy and that's all that matters...
Starting Fresh and New
Revelations:
- i do not like work guy anymore - different interests and he's a bit boring
- my cousin in america is still immature and doesn't appreciate all the work i did for her preparing for her to come here and then she changes her mind. to me that is a load of bullocks and if she does decide to visit here, she can show herself around on her own
- i really need to lose weight
- i need to find a new job that will stimulate my mind this year
Happy New Year
Happy New Year 2006! woohoo!
Had alot to drink and had the best new year's party celebration ever!
What a great start to the new year!!
